Why is it crucial to empower and provide supervisors with the tools they need to lead safety initiatives? The people in charge of the workforce typically have the largest impact.

Promotions to Supervisor positions are a common way for businesses to recognise their best workers. Most of the time, they will receive generic training that will provide them a rudimentary understanding of their legal responsibilities, but may not necessarily improve their interpersonal skills, setting them up to struggle with effective people management.

It is crucial to give supervisors abilities in transformative leadership. Every day, leaders will have the chance to engage transformative discussions with the people under their direct supervision, giving them the chance to influence the culture and show their commitment to safety.

Effective leaders actively listen to their people, get information from them, and identify warning signals of workplace incidents as well as cognition dangers like stress, urgency, and exhaustion. Building credibility, trust, and psychological safety begins with demonstrating care and concern for your employees' wellbeing.

How Can We Help?

Browns Safety's team of consultants have created a multidimensional strategy to recognise the need for organisations to upskill high-performing employees so that they can successfully lead a team utilising the SKATE concept - Experience & Training (Skills, Knowledge, Attitude).

Your leaders will receive training over the course of a three-day interactive session on how to lead, covering their legal obligations as well as actively taking part in activities to improve their people skills.

Afterwards, they will gather evidence over the period of 9 to 12 months by being exposed to different organisational components of your business. Once the learning objectives have been achieved, and documentation has been gathered, our experts will come back to lead an assessment day. This includes a written assessment in addition to a practical and theoretical test involving role playing in various situations. This will provide them the chance to demonstrate their skills, expertise, and attitude as a team manager, but more importantly, as a leader equipped with the qualities needed to succeed in your company.
